Collective Delusion
Everybody thinks they have it. The words to speak kindly to my noose. We both have the same thing. An inclination towards a certain habit. A rabid desire to succeed at any cost, to be me at any cost, to be free at any cost. We firmly speak to the dreams of our genes, and we observe the failures around us. It astounds us, how each one of them forgets to be proud of their ability to learn.
"Burn doubt, chest out, speak loud. I'm telling you now. How can you not desire? How can you be happy as you are when you are able to choose? Choose this: clench your fist in the face of adversity, smile kindly to those who support you, don't think of what might hurt you. Don't think of the pain it took to birth you, and the pleasure that stemmed from it. Don't think of those swallowed by the ocean, lost to its depths, never seen again. Don't think of those who harm, to kill, somehow it is their pleasure that the Devil instilled within them. It may be out there, but it has not found you. Don't think of the smile that lasted a moment. Don't think of the hug that made you feel solved. Don't think of the kiss that opened your heart. It's time to move on. Those are just fragments of the past. The future is nothing to dwell on. Be content and here. I'll give you the plan, just listen to me. I'll speak and you may or may not see what I mean. I'll make it plain, plain as can be. Then you will see I don't need saving. If and only if you listen to me."
