you
You do not have the omniscience nor the omnipotence of God
You do not know me and my will
You may believe you know what a man like me might do
In your arrogance
You have no idea
You misunderstand me like all the others have
You haven't taken a good enough look at my heart
At my body
And my command
You've seen my cracks, and my wandering eyes
But you haven't seen the thoughts behind those eyes
You haven't seen the soldiers in the ravines
Protecting the cracks from more damage
The architects constructing bridges along them
The men and women foraging for supplies
The philosophers reminding them of their purpose
The purpose which comes and goes
But is far more evident than your shallow motivations
Handed to you, like the dog you are
Go fetch a wife, job, house, and kids
You tired, young man
Be strong, unashamed
You failure, how did you let your heart interfere with your goals
while you claim that the heart is the goal,
I know that you're mostly an illusion
Brought to me by my greatest fears
My fears of imperfection and inadequacy
Lacking in reason and strategy
And because I lack, there is one immaculate
That is you or anybody I fear
God or dog, I chase your approval
And I become one or the other
Until I return to me
Until I balance critically
And I remember your ignorant confidence
God or dog, you are for that reason
Unaware of what you lack, by choice or stupidity
Either way, I'm aware of me and mine
And you can't take it from me unless you take my life
You do not know me and my will
You may believe you know what a man like me might do
In your arrogance
You have no idea
You misunderstand me like all the others have
You haven't taken a good enough look at my heart
At my body
