DISCONNECTED

The only truth is right now
Hope tries creating memories of events yet to be
It's comforting
I jump so far ahead of every word I want to write
I'm tugged into the past, attempting to find pain unprocessed
Ignoring my disintegrating core
Because all I care about are your eyes
The opinions of me they hold
The feeling of my body is not enough to keep me here
Especially when it wants to be there, with you
My mind takes over
Don't be overly critical
I forgot that I'm alive for a moment
For a moment again
Until I can hardly remember
But you ground me
You make me feel here
When you're near
If only you were real
Loneliness loves trickery
Self-deception, most of all
Until I no longer remember to feel
Because it's easier not to
