sun & moon

I look away from the sun and the warmth that she brings
I look to the ground, when she rises to me
All my pennies and nickels, to her, they are free
My pain and my shame are for her to see
Her light gives life to the roots of my tree
I move like a dancer with twisted up feet
A tongue that ties before it tries to speak,
but I start to rise when our eyes gently meet

I feel like a moth, flying to the moon
Each night, I can feel it, I'll be there soon
I listen to Leonard, and his solemn tunes,
and time skips ahead, it's suddenly June
So I calm my worn wings, and admire the view,
all the while wishing that I was with you,
but the beauty is enough, and you are, too
I guess I can't reach the heights that you flew
